Summary
Aaron Wolf believes EVIL's move into WWE could lead to another meeting between them down the line, even after EVIL's first appearance on NXT.
EVIL showed up on the April 28 episode of NXT and confronted NXT Champion Tony D'Angelo. One day later, Wolf faced him at NJPW Wrestling Hizen no Kuni and was asked about what came next for the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
Wolf said the idea of crossing paths again is very real if both men remain active in the same wrestling world.
Quote from Aaron Wolf
Speaking to reporters via Tokyo Sports, Wolf said:
"If we're both in the same pro-wrestling world, it's possible we'll face each other again, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he fights on U.S. soil from now on."
Wolf also addressed the possibility that WWE could repackage EVIL under a different name.
"Personally, I'll always remember him as EVIL. Just like how Daniel Radcliffe is strongly associated with the image of Harry Potter. Even if his name changes, I think I'll watch him and think, ah, it's EVIL."
What EVIL's NXT Arrival Changes
EVIL confronting Tony D'Angelo immediately places him near the NXT title picture, and the reference to his IWGP Heavyweight Championship history gives WWE viewers a clear signal that he is arriving with major credentials.
Wolf's comments also underline a second reality of the move. Even if WWE adjusts EVIL's presentation, the identity he built in Japan is still likely to be the version longtime fans connect with first.
Wolf is set to return to action on May 3 at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku, where he is scheduled for a singles match against Don Fale.
