Styles also said he plans to attend Raw in Seattle to speak with talent directly and support morale and development needs.
AJ Styles role with WWE now blends scouting, development, and locker-room support
AJ Styles described a hands-on support role rather than a symbolic retirement role, because he said he is actively reviewing talent, making calls, and working to connect wrestlers with development paths.
His comments also indicate the position can expand over time, which could make him an ongoing bridge between scouting, Performance Center follow-up, and day-to-day roster support.
Quotes
Quote from AJ Styles
“I’m on the internet checking out talent because it’s kind of part of my job with WWE now. I’m looking for talent and seeing what I can do, if I can do anything for them, if they can get better, little things like that. Because if there’s the possibility of them maybe getting a WWE ID or something like that, then hopefully I can help facilitate that happening. As of right now it’s a little slow, but there are phone calls that are going to have to be made to make sure that my job is done. And it’s not just with indie talent. It’ll be WWE NXT talent as well as maybe some main roster talent too. I’m going to go to Seattle for the next WWE RAW and talk with talent. You know, sometimes you just need to talk to somebody to see how they’re feeling. Maybe they want to go down to the PC and work on some stuff. I’m that guy, that’s what I’m there for. So if I can help make sure morale is still there in a good way, I want to be that guy. There are a lot of things that are going to be happening, and as things come up, it’ll change. I’m sure the job will evolve, but as of right now, that’s kind of what I’m doing.”
