Summary
Danhausen offered a tongue-in-cheek explanation for why his clone at WWE Backlash turned out to be a masked luchador instead of a perfect duplicate.
After picking up a win with Minihausen against The Miz and Kit Wilson at Backlash, Danhausen appeared on WWE's recap show and joked that Rey Fenix may have wandered into the cloning machine while he was out of the room.
The line kept the joke from the Backlash segment going while also leaning into the mystery around how Minihausen ended up looking nothing like the original Danhausen.
Quote from Danhausen
Speaking on WWE's Backlash recap show, Danhausen said:
"Well, what I would have presumed is maybe when Danhausen left the room, Ray Fenix walked into it (his cloning machine), maybe that's why he came out a luchador?"
Danhausen later also addressed the speculation that built up around his mystery partner before the match:
"Here's the thing, people go 'Oh, it's confirmed it's Cola-Man Punk, it's confirmed it's Oba Femi.' They're great, however, who said that? Who put that responsibility on me? I didn't even want to find one, why would I ask them? It's Jelly Roll, it's Cola-Man Punk, it's Oba...' I should've had all of them."
What Backlash Could Mean For Danhausen In WWE
Danhausen's Backlash win and his follow-up comments suggest WWE is still getting mileage out of the oddball presentation that has connected with crowds since his arrival. Instead of treating Minihausen as a one-night throwaway gag, the joke about Rey Fenix keeps the bit alive and gives WWE an easy callback if the company wants to revisit it on television.
It also fits the way Danhausen framed the entire mystery partner story. By laughing off the online guesses around CM Punk, Oba Femi and Jelly Roll, he made clear that the payoff was built around his character's absurdity more than a major surprise reveal.
