Summary
Elayna Black says TNA stood out as the right place to continue her comeback because the company felt supportive and open to her ideas.
Black returned to TNA Wrestling on January 15 and officially signed with the promotion after previously appearing there during the WWE-TNA partnership. Following her WWE release in May 2025, she worked a few independent dates before stepping away from wrestling in July.
Speaking on the Battleground podcast, Black said she initially did not want to rush into another destination. Instead, she took time away for her mental health, then started thinking more seriously about where she wanted to end up once she returned.
What TNA Offered Elayna Black
Black said her earlier time around the company left a strong impression because of the backstage atmosphere and the freedom she felt in creative discussions.
Quote from Elayna Black
"At first, I didn't want to go anywhere. I just wanted to see how it was and ride out the wave and see where I ended up. I wasn't in a rush to get anywhere. I ended up taking a break just because I needed it mentally. When I came back, I was just thinking about where I wanted to end up or what my goal was. I remember thinking about when I was with TNA last year when I was with NXT and came over. I remember thinking how good the backstage environment was, and how much of an actual family it felt like, and how much everyone was rooting for each other. It felt creatively free. They genuinely listened to my opinion and wanted to hear my input and ideas. Even back then. Keeping that in mind and realizing that I have friends there. I was like, 'Let's give it a shot. I think I would have fun and it would be the spot to make me fall back in love with wrestling,' which is what I was looking to gain again and it has accomplished. I'm very glad I'm in TNA."
What This Means For Elayna Black In TNA
Elayna Black's explanation gives her TNA run a clear identity straight away, because she is framing this move as a creative reset rather than just the next stop after her WWE release. That gives the promotion a simple story to build around as it re-establishes her on television.
It also stands out that Black is not currently scheduled for TNA Rebellion. That leaves TNA room to pace her next move carefully instead of forcing a pay-per-view spot before the company decides exactly how it wants to position her.
