Summary
EVIL has reportedly signed with WWE, according to a new report that says the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion is now officially set to work for the company.
The 39-year-old, whose real name is Takaaki Watanabe, built his name in NJPW after debuting in 2011. Along with his run in Japan, he also spent time wrestling in the United States for Ring of Honor and made appearances for Global Force Wrestling.
What EVIL's move could mean for WWE
If EVIL is indeed headed to WWE, the signing would give the company another established name with major title credentials and years of experience on a big-stage roster.
The report also noted that EVIL is not expected to keep the EVIL ring name in WWE. That makes the presentation side of this move worth watching just as closely as the roster addition itself, especially since a name change would signal WWE wants to introduce him as a fresh character rather than simply carry over his NJPW identity.
