Summary
Jade Cargill addressed the criticism that has followed her fast rise in WWE, saying the spotlight brings pressure as well as opportunity.
Cargill signed with WWE in 2023 and made her official in-ring debut in the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble as the No. 28 entrant. Since then, she has been featured prominently, and she said that kind of positioning is not as easy as some fans make it sound.
Her latest comments continue a run of candid interviews from Cargill, including her recent discussion about representation and the stars she believes are shaping wrestling today.
Quote from Jade Cargill
"I do what I’m told. At the end of the day, me being skyrocketed to the top, that’s a lot on my shoulders too. People sit back and they’re like, ‘Oh, she got this.’ Like who in the hell is going to say no? Who? Who is going to say no? Nobody is going to say no. They’re like, hell yeah, give it to me. That’s a lot on my shoulders because I have to go out there and I have to perform. It’s not a cakewalk that people think it is. I have to be able to have tough skin, deal with the critics and all the stuff that’s going to come with it."
Cargill later went on to say:
"People think it’s so easy to be at the top. They’re like, ‘Oh, you should be able to handle this.’ I’m a freaking human. Like, I put on my pants just like everybody else. I just got to go out there and do the damn thing. So I can care less. Guess what? I’m getting paid."
What Jade Cargill's comments mean for her WWE run
Cargill's remarks underline that WWE has already positioned her as a major name, and that also means every performance is going to be judged against that push. The more prominently she is presented, the less room there is for fans to separate the performer from the decision-makers behind the push.
Her comments also make clear that she sees the criticism as part of the deal rather than something that will change her approach. For WWE fans, that keeps the focus on whether Cargill continues growing into that top-level spot, not on whether she is willing to embrace the pressure that comes with it.
