Summary

Kendal Grey said the reaction backstage was immediate concern after Sol Ruca's dangerous fall in her Last Woman Standing match with Zaria on WWE NXT.

At the end of the April 20, 2026 episode, Zaria shoved Ruca off a platform and Ruca hit the back of her head on a table below. The aftermath later left her needing eight staples, as Ruca herself revealed after the fall.

Grey said the locker room did not know what to make of the moment until Ruca made it back through the curtain.

Quote from Kendal Grey

While speaking on The Mark Hoke Show, Grey said:

"We were all back there watching. We were speechless, just standing there with our mouths wide open, not knowing how to react in that moment."

Grey later went on to say:

"Then when she came back, I mean, she's awesome, she's amazing at what she does. She came back with a towel on her head like, 'Heck yeah,' smiling and everything. She's awesome, but it was definitely a scary moment for all of us.

There was a lot of concern for her, because obviously that could have been really, really bad. It was bad, but it could always be worse. So seeing her come back with a positive mindset and smiling was reassuring, because all of us were definitely scared."

What Sol Ruca's scare means after NXT

Sol Ruca making it backstage in good spirits immediately eased the panic Grey described, and that matters because the fall was serious enough to leave her needing eight staples rather than just serving as a dramatic finish.

Grey's account also adds context to how the closing spot with Zaria landed in real time. If the wrestlers watching from the back were left speechless, it underlines how serious the moment felt even before Ruca returned smiling.
