Summary

Kit Wilson said one of his early ideas after Elton Prince went down with a neck injury was to join Chelsea Green's Secret Hervice, but WWE ultimately moved in a different direction.

Wilson explained that he started pitching multiple character ideas once Pretty Deadly's usual act was disrupted, fearing he could easily slip out of focus while Prince recovered. Among those ideas was a role alongside Green, and Wilson said the concept gained enough traction that ring gear was even made before creative settled on the "toxic masculinity" direction now attached to his singles work.

Quote from Kit Wilson

Speaking while appearing on Busted Open, Wilson said:

"Unfortunately, he (Elton Prince) suffers the injury and you're right, I could see the potential writing on the wall. As we all know, it's the WWE. Anything could happen. I felt like I could just, for lack of better terms, be in catering the whole time. So I realized I needed something so I started pitching big, and I'm big fans of The Miz, a Chris Jericho of the world, a Shawn Michaels of the world and I kind of felt like I wanted a lane where we could have a certain character, which we could lean on and use maybe as a catchphrase here but, also show that I can work in many different ways, and that's the kind of direction I tried to start heading in. I pitched tons of things. I pitched to be in the Secret Hervice, with Chelsea (Green), and that seemed like that was getting some headway. There was some potential there. We got some gear made. The writers really started liking the idea of this toxic masculinity thing so I started talking to them more about it."

What it means for Kit Wilson and Chelsea Green

Wilson's comments make it clear Prince's injury forced him to fight for a new on-screen role, and that pushed him toward a character pitch that could have tied him directly to one of WWE's more comedy-friendly acts. Instead, WWE kept Wilson separate and leaned into a different singles presentation, which says a lot about how the company wanted him to stand on his own while Pretty Deadly was temporarily disrupted.

There is also an interesting "what if" here for Green's act. Secret Hervice has already been a flexible vehicle around her, and Green has stayed part of the conversation for other reasons too, including when she said she is recovering after an SVT heart procedure. Wilson joining that orbit would have changed the tone of both acts, but his comments suggest WWE saw more upside in letting him carve out a separate identity instead.

Recent WWE context

Wilson also noted this while discussing his current place on television during Prince's recovery. He most recently competed at WWE Backlash, teaming with The Miz in a loss to Danhausen and Minihausen.
