Leila Grey says her recovery from ACL surgery is moving in a positive direction, even though she does not yet have a timetable for returning to the ring.

Grey suffered the torn ACL during her TBS Championship match against Mercedes Moné on the December 6 episode of AEW Collision. She underwent surgery in March 2026 and offered her latest update during a virtual signing for East Coast Autograph Auctions.

Her comments fit alongside other recent injury recovery stories, including Ridge Holland's return after neck surgery, with Grey focusing on rehab progress and the patience required for a long layoff.

Quote from Leila Grey

"I'm actually healing up pretty well so, keeping up with my therapy and yeah, we're gonna come back strong.

It's a long process, but, I'm trying to stay positive. Doing what I gotta do... to come back strong, make a big comeback because I miss all you guys so much. I miss going to work, I miss wrestling, I miss being in the ring.

It's gonna be a long recovery. That is for sure, but, I am definitely doing good on my physical therapy and I'm healing up and I'm going even a little faster than the healing timeline by my doctor so, it's going good but it's definitely gonna be a while."

Grey later addressed the support she received from Mercedes Moné after the injury:

"Of course she did. Yes, and she was with me the whole time afterward. She did not leave my side. Mercedes has been great."

What Leila Grey's absence means for SkyFlight

Grey's injury has already changed the makeup of SkyFlight, as Zayda Steel joined the group while Grey has been sidelined. That gives AEW a different version of the faction on television until Grey is healthy enough to return.

Her update also makes clear that any comeback is still some distance away, even with rehab moving slightly ahead of schedule. For now, the biggest takeaway is that Grey is progressing well, but AEW is still waiting on a full in-ring return.
