Summary
AEW added two more title matches to the April 15 Spring BreakThru edition of Dynamite.
Tony Khan announced that Darby Allin will challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship in Everett, Washington. Kevin Knight is also set for his first defense as TNT Champion, with Claudio Castagnoli named as his opponent.
That gives Spring BreakThru three title bouts overall, joining the previously announced Willow Nightingale vs. Kamille for the TBS Championship.
How the title matches came together
Darby earned the world title shot by defeating Andrade El Idolo at AEW Dynasty. Later in the show, he made it clear he wanted the match on Wednesday's Dynamite.
MJF comes into Spring BreakThru after retaining the AEW World Championship against Kenny Omega in the main event of Dynasty.
Knight, meanwhile, heads into the show as a brand new champion. After winning the TNT Title at Dynasty, he now moves straight into a defense against Castagnoli.
What Spring BreakThru means for MJF and Kevin Knight
MJF vs. Darby Allin gives Dynamite a world title match built directly out of Dynasty, which keeps the top of the AEW card moving without much delay. It also puts Darby in a high-profile championship spot in his home state after he called for the opportunity.
For Kevin Knight, this is an immediate test of how AEW plans to position his TNT title reign. A first defense against Claudio Castagnoli gives the new champion a proven opponent right away and makes the title match feel important rather than transitional.
Current lineup for AEW Dynamite Spring BreakThru

- AEW World Championship: MJF (c) vs. Darby Allin
