Summary

Myles Borne opened up about how his relationship with Stephanie Vaquer started, describing a backstage connection that took time for him to act on before Vaquer eventually reached out first.

Borne said the two noticed each other early, but he repeatedly talked himself out of approaching her. He recalled one moment when he turned around and skipped a trip to catering rather than try to start the conversation.

The NXT talent also discussed how communication has worked in the relationship, pointing to his hearing disability and Vaquer speaking English as a second language. Even with those differences, Borne said the two have not had trouble understanding each other.

Vaquer has remained a prominent figure on WWE programming in recent weeks, including when she addressed an uncomfortable interaction with a fan.

Quote from Myles Borne

Speaking with Denise Salcedo, Borne described the early stage of the relationship like this:

"When we first saw each other, we noticed. And then for the first couple of weeks, we knew we liked each other, but I would try to build up the courage to talk to her, and as soon as we crossed paths, I'd go the opposite direction. I promise, every time. And she noticed it.

I remember one time we were backstage, I was coming in through one door to go to catering, and she was coming through another door, and as we crossed paths, I turned back around and walked out. I didn't even eat. I said, 'Nope, I'm not eating now. I'm just going to be hungry,' because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to say to her.

Eventually, she gave me no choice. She messaged me and said, 'Hey, let's hang out. Let's go have dinner.' And we did. That's when I was like, okay, now I have no choice, I have to build up the courage and talk to her. And it was great. The connection from the first day, it's just, she's a genuinely amazing person, and I'm lucky, you know?

So yeah, to all the guys out there who are mad, hey, I get it. I get it. But like I said, I want to win in every aspect of life, and that's one of the aspects."

Borne later addressed why communication has felt natural between them:

"You know, honestly, when we first started talking, I didn't even think about how this is going to be difficult. I didn't even think about that. And people would ask that question, 'How do they communicate?' We've never had trouble talking. And I started thinking, okay, you know, that makes sense, her first language is a completely different language, a completely different world to mine.

And I'm also completely different, not just a different language, but I'm hearing impaired. So we have two different struggles. But to be honest, she is the smartest woman I've ever met. I mean, the way she picked up on English blows my mind. I still struggle with English. I mean, people say it all the time, 'Oh, he said this wrong.' I know, I have a speech impediment. English is my first language, I've lived here my whole life, and I still struggle with it. And the fact that she comes in here and after one year she can have an entire conversation with me without missing a beat, I'm just... sometimes I forget. I don't even pay attention to what she's saying, I'm just like, 'Wow. How are you doing this?'"

Stephanie Vaquer and Myles Borne on NXT

Because both names are now familiar to NXT viewers, Borne's comments add personal context to two wrestlers who are already part of WWE's weekly television conversation. That does not change anything on screen by itself, but it does make the pairing a talking point for fans who follow the brand closely.

The other notable takeaway is how Borne framed their communication. By stressing that his hearing impairment and Vaquer's second-language learning have not created barriers between them, he gave a more complete picture of their connection than a standard relationship reveal usually offers.
