Summary
Nia Jax believes Naomi's role in WWE's women's evolution still does not get enough recognition.
While speaking on Night Cap, Jax said Naomi helped open doors for the generation that followed, especially Black women in WWE. She also pointed to Jacqueline as one of the names who helped create that path before moments like Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks headlining WrestleMania became possible.
Quote from Nia Jax
Speaking on Night Cap, Jax said:
"Naomi, she's been pioneering for the Black women for 15-16 years. That woman, and it makes me so mad because I feel like she didn't get the flowers she truly deserves. She's so incredible. She put up with so much. One day she'll tell her story, but she put up with so much that now, it's easier for us. Now, it's normal. Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks got to main event, but it didn't come without somebody like Naomi and Jacqueline, these women who really paved the way. It's incredible to see now."
What Jax's Naomi comments say about WWE's history
Jax's comments put Naomi back into the larger conversation about how WWE's women's division changed over the last decade and a half. By naming Naomi alongside Jacqueline, and then connecting that groundwork to Belair and Banks reaching the WrestleMania main event, Jax framed Naomi as part of the bridge between different eras of progress.
That stands out even more with Naomi currently away from television during her pregnancy. Even while she is off screen, Jax made the case that Naomi's influence is still felt in the way WWE now presents its top women's stars and the opportunities available to them.
What's next for Jax and Naomi
Naomi is currently away from WWE television as she is pregnant.
Jax, meanwhile, is set to team with Lash Legend to defend the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles in a four-way match at WrestleMania 42.
