Summary

Persephone said she learned about WWE interest through other people rather than direct contact while she was under contract in Mexico.

She described her current dual-contract setup with AEW and CMLL as a rare opportunity that lets her work for a major U.S. company without leaving the promotion she credits for helping launch her current run.

Persephone debuted in CMLL in 2023 and has also competed at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door and on ROH TV.

She is scheduled to challenge Mercedes Moné for the CMLL World Women’s Championship at CMLL La Noche De Las Amazonas on March 6.

Persephone’s dual-contract position changes her U.S. and Mexico career leverage

Persephone holding active ties to both AEW and CMLL gives her unusual leverage in the current market, because she can expand her U.S. visibility without giving up her established base in Mexico.

Her comments about learning of WWE interest only after the fact also highlight how contract structure and communication rules can shape timing for major career moves, especially with a title match against Mercedes Moné now directly in front of her.

Quote from Persephone

“I think it’s probably one of the coolest opportunities I’ve had because I think it’s a really unique time for wrestling in the sense that I was picked up by a big company in the US, but without having to leave my roots, without having to leave the company that really took off with Persephone. Don’t get me wrong, I was wrestling way before that. But I think the company that just gave Persephone that pad to jump from was always CMLL and that’s where I’ve always felt at home. So I think it’s a really unique time in wrestling where I can now wrestle for a big company in the US without leaving my home company, and it’s something really great to be able to go back and forth.”

Persephone later went on to say:

“I learned of the interest from others. I’ve been in Mexico for three, four years now, I wasn’t fully aware of the US scene or how contracts in the US work. I’ve always just been in Mexico doing my thing. So from what I understood, while being under contract with CMLL, I don’t think there was a way to have communication. I learned after the fact and everything from media and everything. I think it’s really crazy, right? As a kid watching different brands and dreaming about something as big as this and now having interest from different companies is something really crazy.”
