Summary

Phase 2 of the 2026 CMLL Universal Championship Tournament is complete, and Hechicero has now punched his ticket to the finals at Arena Mexico's 70th Anniversary event.

That gives the tournament its second confirmed finalist after Mascara Dorada secured the first finals spot in Phase 1. One more entrant is still to be decided before the championship match is fully set.

Winner

Hechicero won Phase 2 by defeating Angel de Oro.

The deciding fall came when Hechicero put Angel de Oro away with La Hechicera, the Guillotine Driver. To get there, the CMLL World Heavyweight Champion outlasted Mistico, Angel de Oro, Niebla Roja, Stigma, Templario and Neon.

What Hechicero takes into the Arena Mexico final

Hechicero reaching this stage matters because it is the first time he has qualified for the final of the Universal Championship Tournament. For a reigning world champion, that gives CMLL a proven singles titleholder in one of its biggest anniversary matches.

It also sets up an interesting final alongside Mascara Dorada, with one more spot still open. Even without the full field locked in yet, CMLL has already placed two established names into the title picture for Arena Mexico's 70th Anniversary event.
