Summary
WrestleMania 42 Saturday opened with The Usos and LA Knight taking on Logan Paul, Austin Theory and IShowSpeed. John Cena introduced the show before the match, which quickly turned chaotic once the bell rang.
The Vision were on the back foot early as The Usos landed dueling superkicks, leaving IShowSpeed alone for a moment. Speed got a brief burst of offense when he slammed Knight, but he bailed out just as quickly when Knight popped back up.
Winner
LA Knight and The Usos won when Knight sent Austin Theory into IShowSpeed and followed with the BFT on Theory for the pinfall.
Match recap
The Usos controlled stretches of the match against Logan Paul before Theory helped swing momentum back to his side. Jey Uso later connected with a spear, but Logan broke up the cover to keep the bout going.
Speed got involved again late, but his team unraveled when he accidentally knocked Knight into Logan. That opened the door for Knight to recover, throw Theory into Speed, and finish Theory off with the BFT.
After the match, Logan turned on Speed and attacked him. The Usos made the save by planting Logan with 1D. Knight then helped Speed back up, only to lay Logan across the announce desk so Speed could hit a frog splash from the top.
What WrestleMania 42's opener did for LA Knight and IShowSpeed
Knight had already framed this match as the bout that needed to sell the rest of WrestleMania 42, and the finish gave him the decisive moment WWE would want from that spot. He got the win for his side, while the post-match sequence also gave the crowd one more celebrity payoff with Speed diving onto Logan.
For Logan Paul and IShowSpeed, the closing angle kept their issues alive even after the bell. Logan attacking Speed, then taking the frog splash through the desk setup, gives WWE an easy way to circle back to that pairing if the company wants another celebrity-driven follow-up.
