Summary

Rhea Ripley had plenty to say after WrestleMania 42, both about winning the WWE Women's Championship and about what Jade Cargill pushed her through in the process.

Speaking on the WrestleMania post-show, Ripley reflected on the personal tone of the build to the match and said the comments Cargill made in recent weeks stayed with her heading into the title bout. Ripley ultimately left the event with the championship, adding another major WrestleMania win to her résumé.

The result also followed months of tension between the two, including Ripley's warning that Cargill's selfish approach would not last in WWE and Cargill's own dismissive comments before the match.

Quote from Rhea Ripley

Ripley said the build to the match stayed with her all the way through WrestleMania night:

"Every single flashback over the last month just flooded my brain completely. All the sly comments that Jade was throwing my way to try to diminish me and the name that I built here in the WWE. She claimed that she was better than me and claimed that she didn't need to do the things that I've done, jump through the same hoops that I jump through. I give her credit where credit is due, she made a massive name for herself, but at the end of the day, she is now going to remember me as the bitch that beat her,"

Ripley later went on to say:

"I'm never going to speak down on someone when they've actually shown me they can go. Jade, she brought it tonight. She had me lying on the mat."

What WrestleMania 42 means for Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill

Ripley leaving WrestleMania 42 with the WWE Women's Championship immediately puts the focus back on her as one of the division's central stars, and her comments made clear she viewed beating Cargill as more than just another defense or title match.

At the same time, Ripley openly praising Cargill's performance gives the loss some weight. Cargill did not win the match, but being framed by the new champion as someone who "brought it" helps keep her strong in the title picture if WWE wants to revisit the rivalry.
