Summary
Roman Reigns had strong words for Jacob Fatu after WWE Backlash, even after leaving the show with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship still around his waist.
Reigns defeated Fatu in the main event, but the night did not end with the champion in control. After the match, Fatu kept the assault going, choked Reigns out with the Tongan Death Grip, and also took out multiple officials during the attack.
Quote from Roman Reigns
Speaking on the post-show, Reigns said:
"This is why we should’ve never let Jacob in this company. You don’t belong here, Jacob. There is no order with you. This is your last night here."
What Jacob Fatu's attack means for Raw
Fatu may not have left Backlash with the title, but he still turned the closing moments of the show into a statement. Reigns retained, yet the image WWE closed on was the champion being choked out after the bell, which keeps the feud heated going into Monday's Raw.
That also gives extra weight to Reigns being advertised for the show. WWE had already pushed the rivalry hard in the lead-up to Backlash, including Reigns vowing Fatu would not stand tall at the event. After what happened once the match was over, Raw now looks like the next place for that issue to escalate.
