Summary

Sam Adonis had strong praise for Dominik Mysterio in a new interview, calling the WWE star the best heel in the company while also applauding the work he has done in AAA.

Adonis said he first met Mysterio when he was 16 years old in Mexico City and remembered him as respectful even then. He said that view has only grown with the way Mysterio has developed his on-screen character across both promotions.

Quote from Sam Adonis

"So I actually- I met Dominik Mysterio when he was 16 years old in Mexico City. He was actually down there with some friends or family, but he was randomly at a party, and I walked into the party and they said, 'hey, Rey's son's here.' I said, 'what? Why? Why is Rey's son here?' Anyway, we met. He was a super respectful, good kid at the time. I have not seen him since in person. But I absolutely love his work in AAA. I love his work in WWE. He's, in my opinion, the best heel in the company. I think he's somebody that's doing it right. He's actually a heel. He's fully embracing the legacy of his father as well as embracing the history and tradition of Lucha Libre."

Adonis later went on to say:

"No, absolutely not. Mexico, the fans there really, really embrace the sport more than we do here. So much so that they're not necessarily as easily offended. They want somebody to hate. You know, they really, really enjoy the people that go out there and give it hard. But they love his dad. They love his dad. They absolutely detest him. But it's great to be able to get the fans involved, and I think especially considering his age, he's got a huge future ahead of him."

What Adonis Sees In Dominik Mysterio's AAA Run

Adonis' comments centered on how naturally Mysterio fits as a villain in Mexico without needing to change the presentation that already works for him in WWE. He said Mysterio does not need a mask to connect with AAA crowds because the audience already understands the family history and is eager to boo the son of Rey Mysterio.

That point matters because it speaks to how flexible Dominik's act has become. His WWE character is already built around fans rejecting him, and Adonis believes the same dynamic translates cleanly to AAA because of the Mysterio name and the reaction it creates. Dominik has also remained a frequent talking point outside WWE programming, including in a recent interview where Zilla Fatu said Dominik Mysterio welcomed him back after prison release.

What This Means For Dominik Mysterio In WWE And AAA

If Dominik Mysterio is getting this kind of praise from a longtime AAA regular, it reinforces that WWE's handling of him is landing beyond its own television. Adonis' view also underlines how valuable Dominik is as a crossover heel while WWE continues to deepen its presence around AAA.
