Summary
Santos Escobar is believed to be gone from WWE, according to a new report tied to the company's ongoing round of talent departures.
Escobar last wrestled in March, when he competed in the Rey de Reyes tournament final for the WWE-linked AAA brand. That match was said to be where he suffered the pec injury that led into his latest stretch on the sidelines.
The former Legado Del Fantasma leader signed with WWE in 2019 after making his name internationally as El Hijo del Fantasma. During his run with the company, he held the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.
Escobar's recent injury timeline
Escobar has dealt with multiple medical setbacks in 2026. He previously underwent tricep surgery, then revealed in April that he would also need surgery on his ulnar nerve.
He said that second procedure stemmed from a "hiccup" during the first surgery, adding another complication to an already difficult recovery period.
What a Santos Escobar exit would mean
If this reported departure holds, WWE would be losing a wrestler who had remained visible through its AAA expansion even while working back from injury. It would also leave open questions about when and where Escobar wrestles next once he is fully recovered from those surgeries.
