Summary

Seth Rollins says insecurity played a real part in why he built The Vision in 2025, framing the group as both protection and a way to shape WWE's future on his own terms.

Speaking during the Backlash countdown show, Rollins said he felt enemies were stacking up around him, naming CM Punk and Roman Reigns while also pointing to the wider threat that comes with Reigns' orbit. He said that pushed him toward building something that could shield him while also giving him a hand in developing the next generation, which is why Bron Breakker fit the plan.

Rollins is set to face Breakker at Backlash as that situation keeps unraveling. WWE recently added that match to the ESPN2 portion of the show, as noted in the latest Backlash lineup update.

Quote from Seth Rollins

"Maybe a little bit of insecurity. I looked at the landscape and I was starting to kind of pile up enemies. CM Punk, Roman Reigns, when you have Roman Reigns you have the entire Bloodline. So, there was a lot of people who were sort of eyeballing what I was doing and what I was saying. They didn't like it. I felt like at that stage, there were a lot of visions for what the future of the company could or would or should look like. To be honest with you, I just don't trust Roman Reigns. I certainly don't trust CM Punk. I don't trust either of them to be kind of the figureheads and the leaders and so I felt like I was the best person suited for the job. I felt like I was in a unique position where I had to kind of take care of those guys but then I needed to insulate myself on the backside of that. Also, I wanted to do this thing not just for me, but to pass it along to the next generation. For me, Bron Breakker was the perfect fit for that."

Rollins later explained why he brought Paul Heyman into the mix:

"The Paul Heyman aspect of that is a little more interesting. That was a mistake on my behalf. Paul's been a thorn in my side for over a decade when he was the advocate for Brock Lesnar and when he was the wiseman for Roman Reigns. This is a guy who has always latched on to people that would give him power. At some point, it became necessary for me to have him on my side so that I didn't have to deal with him on the other side. It was one of those keep your friends close, enemies closer situation. There's always been a mutual respect between myself and Paul, but we've never sort of stood on the same side of the sand. So, to have him on my side, I felt like I could control it a little better. I could handle him if I had him on my side and if our visions were aligned, it would be less for me to have deal with on the back end."

What Rollins' Backlash Comments Mean For Bron Breakker And Paul Heyman

Rollins tying The Vision directly to insecurity makes Bron Breakker's place in the story clearer. Breakker was not presented as random backup, he was part of Rollins' attempt to secure power and establish a successor he trusted more than Roman Reigns or CM Punk.

The Heyman portion matters too, because Rollins openly calling that alliance a mistake adds another layer to the Backlash build. If Rollins believes he misread Heyman while also losing control of Breakker, the match becomes more than a grudge bout, it becomes a fight over whether his entire WWE power play is collapsing.
