Summary

Shane Haste has opened up about what he earned during his WWE main roster run as SLAPJACK, saying the deal paid him $250,000 per year over three years after RETRIBUTION moved up from NXT.

Speaking on Talk'n Shop with Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows, Haste said the jump from NXT money to the main roster was significant. He also recalled that after RETRIBUTION ended, he was offered a raise to $350,000 per year in exchange for adding two more years to his contract.

The comments add another layer to Haste's recent reflections on his career, including his account of learning his NJPW deal had ended after NOAH reached out.

Quote from Shane Haste

"It was more than double. More than double. To be SLAPJACK, I made (a lot). It was great."

When Haste was asked what the number was, he added:

"250, $250,000 for a three-year contract. They originally asked, I think, 250 for five years… Brought it down to three years. I didn’t care.

To jump forward a little bit while we’re talking money, after the RETRIBUTION stuff, I get called into Johnny’s office and he’s like, ‘Hey,’ and I’m like, ‘Thanks for everything,’ and he’s like, ‘We wanted to give you a pay raise, up to $350,000 a year.’ He’s like, ‘But, we’re gonna add two years to your contract.’ I’m like, add infinity years… I didn’t say that but, I was like, ‘Yes, yes, whatever.’ I was like, ‘Sure, whatever.’ In my mind, I was like, add infinity years. I’m not seeing the end of this year. I didn’t have a name. They took away my name."

Haste later went on to describe how RETRIBUTION's contract talks played out before the group officially landed on the main roster:

"So (Mark) Carrano had originally came to us for the main roster thing. He says, ‘Is there anything that you really want?’ I’m like, ‘I’d like to sign a million dollar contract.’ Whether it’s 250 for five years… So I’d asked for $330,000 for three years, whatever it was, and then that got shut down. They were like, ‘Take the deal or you’re all fired’ and we’re like, ‘Oh, okay then,’ which I was fine with, and that was for the three years… After that whole thing and they stripped me of everything, I ended up signing a deal that was over a million dollars. I didn’t get a million dollars."

RETRIBUTION contract talks

According to Haste, the original negotiation included a request for $330,000 over three years before the group was told to accept the $250,000 offer or risk losing the opportunity altogether. He said the later raise came only after RETRIBUTION had already ended and his presentation had been scaled back.

That makes the story less about one unusual number and more about how quickly the group's standing changed. Haste described a situation where the money improved, but the character identity and long-term confidence in the role were already gone.

What Shane Haste's WWE offer revealed

Haste's account suggests WWE still saw enough value in keeping him under contract to increase the deal after RETRIBUTION was finished, even though the faction itself had already fallen apart on screen. It also helps explain why he framed the extension as easy to accept, because by his own telling, the financial security mattered more than the shrinking creative role at that stage.
