Summary
The Miz said he has learned not to rule anything out at WrestleMania, pointing back to WWE WrestleMania 39 as proof that plans can change fast.
While speaking on the Throwbacks podcast, Miz recalled going into the 2023 event at SoFi Stadium as host without a scheduled match, only to wind up wrestling on both nights and taking The People's Elbow from Snoop Dogg. He said that experience reinforced why he tries to stay ready even when he is not officially on the card.
Quote from The Miz
"I didn’t have a match when I hosted at SoFi Stadium, like, two nights, and then I ended up having two matches, both nights, getting People’s Elbowed by Snoop Dogg."
The Miz later went on to say:
"So you never know what’s going to happen in WWE, especially at WrestleMania. Even though I don’t have a match right now, I’m always prepared, always ready, and ready to go. So at SoFi Stadium, I didn’t even find out until the day of, like that afternoon. They were like, ‘Yeah, you’re probably going to have a match tonight.’ And I’m like, ‘What? Wait, what? Huh?’ And it’s WrestleMania, that’s what we build for. But the thing is, I’ve prepared myself to where I can be put into any situation. I feel like WWE prepares you for everything, whether it’s a movie, a television show, improv, hosting, whatever it is, it prepares you for it. So I feel like I’m always ready for anything, any obstacle that comes my way. If they need me for a match impromptu, right then and there, I can go out and put on the best match possible."
What The Miz's WrestleMania mindset says now
The Miz's comments underline how WWE still views him as a dependable utility player during the biggest week of the year. Even without a match announced, he framed himself as someone who can slide into a host role, a celebrity segment, or an in-ring spot on short notice.
That kind of unpredictability has long been part of WrestleMania's identity, and it remains a big reason the show carries so much intrigue every year, much like the larger legacy surrounding WrestleMania 17.
