Summary

Thekla believes her current run as AEW Women's World Champion has taken her to the highest point of her career so far.

While discussing her place in the business, Thekla said holding AEW's top women's title stands out because of the championship's reputation and status in the United States. That confidence comes as she heads toward AEW Double or Nothing, where she is scheduled to defend the belt in a fatal four-way match against Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander and Jamie Hayter.

Quote from Thekla

"Yeah. Yeah. I think the AEW Women’s World Championship is a pretty prestigious title all over wrestling, but especially in the States. So I think this is probably the peak for a lot of people. I think in a lot of people’s eyes, yeah. Me personally, sure. Yeah. Gold is gold, and that’s the shiniest one, and it’s the heaviest one, honestly, so far."

Thekla later went on to say:

"It’s really fucking heavy. See, look, the replicas are a little lighter. Actually, for some reason, they don’t like to spend that much money on the on the fake stuff, so, but when I was handed mine the first time, I was like, ‘oh god damn,’ like it’s a little workout getting in and out of that ring with the title. You know, it’s like heavy."

What Double or Nothing means for Thekla

Thekla already beat Kris Statlander in a strap match to win the championship in February, and Double or Nothing gives her a chance to strengthen that reign against a deeper field. If she gets through Shida, Statlander and Hayter in one night, AEW will have a much stronger case for presenting her as the clear centerpiece of the division rather than a new champion still settling into the role.

That also adds a little extra context to Thekla's recent comments about staying with AEW. A successful defense at Double or Nothing would make those remarks feel even bigger, because it would tie her long-term commitment to a title run AEW is asking fans to invest in right now.
