Summary

Tony Khan says he is eager to get Mercedes Moné back on AEW television and expressed hope that her return happens soon.

Moné has been away from AEW TV since the fallout from losing the AEW TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale. During that stretch, Khan noted that she has continued wrestling internationally while her run of title success outside AEW has cooled off.

Khan's latest comments add another public signal that Moné remains in AEW's plans for 2026, even after spending recent weeks competing away from the promotion.

Quote from Tony Khan

Asked about Moné's status during an interview with Jason Hall of 93.3, Khan said:

"I am very excited about Mercedes Moné, she's a huge part of AEW and I'm very excited to have her back in AEW, hopefully soon."

Khan later went on to say:

"She's been traveling the world, she's wrestled all over. I think she's hit a rough spot in her wrestling career in terms of her championship aspirations. She held so many championships all over the world. And now, with Mercedes having traveled the world, she won all these championships and she's had some setbacks. I still think she's one of the top wrestlers on the planet and I'm excited for her to return to AEW in 2026."

What Mercedes Moné's AEW return could mean

Mercedes Moné returning to AEW would immediately strengthen the women's division around a proven top star, especially because Khan is still speaking about her as an important part of the company rather than as someone on the outside looking in.

It also keeps her name in the picture as AEW builds out the rest of its 2026 calendar. Khan has recently discussed other major plans for the promotion, including saying that STARDOM will be part of AEW Forbidden Door 2026, so a Moné comeback would give AEW another established name to plug into those larger conversations.

Return timeline

Moné previously said she would be coming back "home" after her Winnipeg Pro Wrestling appearance on March 31, but she has not yet resurfaced on AEW programming.

Khan did not offer a firm date for that comeback, only that he hopes it happens soon and that he expects her back in AEW during 2026.
