Summary
Will Ospreay says he would gladly step into the ring with The New Day if Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods end up joining AEW.
The comments came after Kingston and Woods were released from WWE following failed talks over their contracts. Since then, speculation about the duo's next landing spot has only grown, and AEW has been one of the obvious possibilities tied to both men.
Quote from Will Ospreay
Asked about the possibility of facing The New Day in the future, Ospreay said he would welcome it.
"I mean, I would love it. I've heard nothing but wonderful things about them. I loved watching Kofi Kingston win the WWE Championship and seeing what that meant to so many people. I think that's powerful stuff. I've only really spoken with Xavier Woods on Twitter, and I think it's mostly been about costumes more than anything. He's messaged me quite a lot about how he loves my jackets. Everybody's said they're wonderful human beings, so if the avenues are there, of course I'd love to f****** wrestle them."
What Ospreay vs. The New Day could mean for AEW
Ospreay naming both Kingston and Woods matters because it shows how quickly AEW-level matchups would open up if The New Day do land there. Kingston's history as a former WWE Champion and Woods' long run as part of one of WWE's defining tag teams would immediately give AEW fresh singles and tag possibilities.
It also adds another example of Ospreay being central to AEW conversation beyond his own matches. That has been a theme lately, including recent praise from Paul Wight about Ospreay's work ethic and love for wrestling.
