Summary

AEW's Fairway To Hell special on May 9 closed with Darby Allin retaining the AEW World Championship in a no countouts main event against PAC, while the rest of the night pushed several major stories forward.

The show also saw Mark Davis dethrone Jack Perry for the AEW National Championship, and AEW added more direction for both Stadium Stampede and Double or Nothing. That followed the setup from Darby Allin vs. PAC being announced for the show.

Results

  • AEW National Championship: Mark Davis def. Jack Perry (c) to win the title.
  • Divine Dominion (Lena Kross and Megan Bayne) def. Ruthie Slay and Rachel Lay.
  • Mike Bailey def. Kiran Grey.
  • AEW World Championship, No Countouts: Darby Allin (c) def. PAC.

AEW also aired vignettes featuring Nick Wayne and Kyle O'Reilly. Jack Perry announced that he, The Young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho will team together at Stadium Stampede. Don Callis said Mark Davis will join Ricochet at Stadium Stampede, and he also said Konosuke Takeshita, not Kazuchika Okada, will challenge for the world title on Dynamite.

Thekla was also confirmed to defend the AEW Women's Championship against Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing. Kevin Knight later said he and Bailey will still make it to the top.

Mark Davis and Darby Allin reshape AEW's next week

Mark Davis leaving Fairway To Hell with the AEW National Championship immediately changes the balance around Stadium Stampede, because Callis' side now has a fresh title win behind it going into that match. Jack Perry was also featured in the Stadium Stampede buildup, so the title change gives that part of the card another layer heading out of the special.

Darby Allin keeping the AEW World Championship matters just as much because AEW also put the next world title direction on the table before the night ended. With Callis naming Konosuke Takeshita as the challenger for Dynamite, the main event result kept the focus on Darby as the man everyone else is now chasing.
