Summary

Andrade will get another shot at Yota Tsuji and the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku on May 3.

The title match was announced during Road to Dontaku on April 19 after Tsuji's originally scheduled challenger, Gabe Kidd, was sidelined with a shoulder injury suffered at AEW Dynasty. That leaves Andrade stepping into one of the bigger title spots on the card after Gabe Kidd was ruled out of the match.

This will be a rematch from NJPW New Beginning USA on February 27, where Tsuji previously defeated Andrade.

What Yota Tsuji vs. Andrade changes at Wrestling Dontaku

Yota Tsuji now gets a familiar opponent at Wrestling Dontaku, and that gives NJPW a quick way to keep the IWGP Global Heavyweight title bout meaningful despite Kidd's injury. The company can lean on the history from their February meeting instead of trying to build a completely new challenger from scratch.

For Andrade, the switch immediately puts him back into a major singles title match in NJPW. For Tsuji, a second win over the same opponent would strengthen his grip on the championship scene, while a different result would completely reshape the title picture heading into the next stretch of the schedule.
