Summary

Austin Theory says he is hearing that the six-man tag featuring himself, Logan Paul, and IShowSpeed against LA Knight and The Usos will open night one of WWE WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium on April 18.

Theory made the comment while appearing on The Mark Hoke Show Pro Wrestling Show. The match was already official, but his remarks added to the latest talk about where it could land on the card.

The bout comes after Speed accidentally struck Knight at ringside during The Usos' WWE World Tag Team Title defense against Theory and Paul. Theory and Paul then defeated The Usos to win the belts, setting up the WrestleMania clash.

Quote from Austin Theory

Theory said he expects the match to kick off the show:

"WrestleMania 42, Allegiant Stadium, get your tickets, Ticketmaster. ESPN, get the app. That's where we're gonna be. Night one. Match one is what I'm hearing. So, that's how you kick off the show right there."

Theory also spoke at length about teaming with Logan Paul and IShowSpeed:

"Man, I have to say, Logan Paul, it's so fun. That's a guy, as much as people hate on him and say whatever they wanna say, that's a guy, if you look, even kind of similar to my story, it wasn't wrestling but, working on something, having a passion for something and becoming one of the biggest superstars in the world on social media, just really anything. He's grinded and built that, and still to this day, even when we're working at work and we're putting a match together or figuring out our next move for The Vision, he's working on other stuff. He's always working, so being around him, it's super motivating. It's super cool to see somebody that has all these other things going on and really could just say, yeah, put me on the show, and I'll get you guys some views. It's not like that at all. Dude is in it, he's giving his all and to see somebody jump in it like that and be able to just get it and even improve along the way so quick, it blows my mind and I think he kind of messes it up for other outsiders because they go, 'Oh, I could do that' but, you're not Logan Paul, and when we talk about IShowSpeed, that's another one that started so young grinding, and he's only 21 and dude's got almost 50 million followers, just on Instagram. But just his platform and what he brings to the table is so unique, and I feel like with him, especially going into this match and just the little stuff you've seen on TV, not the spear where he almost passed away, but, this week, you see him jump over L.A. Knight. Speed, that's nothing for him. He jumps over cars. So, it's really cool, and he really is somebody that he's got it. He really just needs to know, 'Hey, this is what you want me to do? I got you,' and he has his own little flavor on it, but, for me, it's a cool little situation, because I'm with two guys that, normally, fans wouldn't like because they're outsiders but, to me, I love it. Especially the heat we get and people not liking it but seeing that, 'Dang, Logan's a tag team champion though. Dang, IShowSpeed is on WrestleMania at 21.' Hate all you want but we're living life. So, that's what I gotta say about those guys."

What Theory's comments mean for WrestleMania 42

If Austin Theory is right about the placement, WWE is treating this match as a major tone-setter for WrestleMania 42. Logan Paul and IShowSpeed bring obvious crossover attention, while Theory's comments make clear he sees that outside-star dynamic as part of the appeal rather than something to hide.

It also keeps Paul in a prominent WrestleMania spot at a time when WWE has continued to lean on his mainstream value. That lines up with Paul recently reflecting on being Vince McMahon's final WWE signing, another example of how central he has become to WWE's celebrity-heavy presentation.
