Summary
Bishop Dyer says he has become far more selective about where he works since leaving WWE in late 2024, and he pointed to MLW and Maple Leaf Pro as the kinds of promotions that still give him what he wants out of wrestling.
Dyer explained that both companies stand out to him because of how professionally they operate. He said that matters more to him now than simply taking as many dates as possible, adding that money is no longer the main reason he keeps stepping back into the ring.
Quote from Bishop Dyer
Speaking during an interview with Denise Salcedo, Dyer said:
"The way it is run is very professional, which I love. Again, it’s not a shot at anyone, but I’m just not doing indie companies where it’s just a total shit show for a lack of a better term and it’s chaotic. I get it, guys gotta go through that to get where they want to be. I’m a little more picky on the shows I want to do, so MLW has been a great spot. Same with Maple Leaf Pro, I love working for Scott as well. Both of those companies are so professionally run and it’s such a pleasure to get there. It’s not about the money for me at this point, obviously I do get compensated for my time but that’s not my driving factor. It’s really neat to be able to kind of pick these companies like MLW where I feel like it is super pro, everybody there is super talented and it’s a great experience every time I’m there. Like, it can’t come fast enough. Get me to the show on Sunday, let’s get through those ropes, let’s get in front of the crowd. Like, it’s so addicting to be a performer in this. When you step through those ropes, there’s nothing like it. For me, it’s what keeps me alive in a sense. It’s just fulfilling and I love it. MLW and Maple Leaf Pro provide that immensely with the talent they bring in and the guys I get to step in the ring with. It’s just so fun and I love it."
What Dyer's Comments Mean For MLW And Maple Leaf Pro
Dyer naming MLW and Maple Leaf Pro together gives both promotions a credible endorsement from a veteran who no longer feels any need to chase every available booking. That matters because he framed both companies as places where the locker room environment and overall presentation still make wrestling feel worthwhile for him.
His comments also make it clear that Dyer's current run is being shaped by fit rather than volume. For fans, that means his appearances in MLW and Maple Leaf Pro may continue to feel more intentional, especially if he keeps choosing spots where he believes the talent level and professionalism match what he wants at this stage of his career.
