Angles and Backstage

Several storyline threads developed through the evening. Sheldon Jean put the blame for a recent loss at Global Wars squarely on Bryce Hansen. Daisuke Sasaki punctuated the confrontation by hurling a chair at Hansen, who ducked clear, setting the table for their No DQ bout later in the night.

Bishop Dyer addressed his betrayal of Kaito Kiyomiya directly on the mic, saying he turned on Kiyomiya because, in his own words, he is simply an asshole. The explanation did not age well: Kiyomiya beat him in the ring, and Dyer followed the loss with a post-match attack.

The Swirl's win over Mo Jabari came with an unwanted addition: Jimmy Jacobs appearing at ringside and attempting to coach Jabari through the match, a dynamic that seems set to continue.

In the main event build, Rohan Raja was vocal about his frustration at being passed over for the MLP Canadian Title picture before the gauntlet took place.

Ahead of the gauntlet, Stu Grayson cut a promo, and Evil Uno made his way to him with a pointed message: he was disappointed that Grayson did not have a champion's mentality. Uno called Grayson the best wrestler in Canada. Grayson went on to win the gauntlet, outlasting Jay Lethal, Michael Oku, Rich Swann, Rohan Raja, and Jonathan Gresham to claim the Interim MLP Canadian Championship.

Before her rematch with Deonna Purrazzo, Gisele Shaw was clear about the difference in approach: Purrazzo had beaten her in a pure wrestling context, but tonight was pro wrestling. Shaw promised to break Purrazzo's arm. Shaw retained the Women's Canadian Championship.

What Stu Grayson's Win Means for MLP

Stu Grayson is now the Interim MLP Canadian Champion after going through five opponents in a single elimination gauntlet. The "interim" designation leaves the door open for the championship picture to shift once the full title picture becomes clearer. Evil Uno's pre-match warning, calling Grayson the best in Canada while questioning his champion's mindset, sets up an interesting internal tension within their orbit going forward.

The Good Brothers dropping the MLP Canadian Tag Team Championships to Sheldon Jean and Brent Banks is the most significant result of the night from a title prestige standpoint. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have been a marquee act wherever they have worked; their loss puts the spotlight on Jean and Banks as the promotion's new top tag team.
