Summary
Demolition's WWE Hall of Fame moment came with a much shorter runway than Ax and Smash originally expected.
Speaking on their Demo Pod, Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow said WWE told them they had six minutes total for their induction speech ahead of WrestleMania 42. Eadie said he understood the time constraints and was ultimately happy with how the speech turned out, while Darsow said the original version he had in mind would have run far longer.
Their induction was part of the same Hall of Fame weekend that also saw WWE roll out a red carpet special for the Class of 2026, underscoring how tightly produced the ceremony has become.
Quotes
Quote from Bill Eadie
"I wish we could’ve gone longer. I understand we have a timeframe, but I was happy with how it came out."
Quote from Barry Darsow
"When they were first telling us to do all this, I had a speech that was a half hour long. I was going to tell stories about Andre The Giant and different people and how I came into the business. They came to us and said ‘you have six minutes.’ I went, ‘Six minutes? Between both of us?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ How am I going to take three minutes and Bill take three minutes? All of a sudden, you have to cut the speech down and what your whole thought process was. Mine ended up being probably four or five minutes. Bill’s was four, five, six minutes, maybe. We went over the time limit, but you’re getting inducted into the Hall of Fame? How could you not tell what you’re thinking? I noticed after on the WWE site, they just have a couple words of what I said and they have Bill’s full speech, which is fine for me, but it’s because we went over the time limit, I’m sure."
Eadie later added that different versions of the speech appear to have been used in different places.
"They have different variations, because I saw the reverse of it. I think they do little splices. The whole thing is out there."
What Demolition's Hall of Fame comments say about WWE's ceremony
Demolition's comments make it clear that a Hall of Fame induction is now being treated less like an open-ended tribute and more like a tightly timed television production. For a team with Demolition's history, that meant cutting personal stories and career reflections that normally would have been central to the speech.
It also helps explain why fans sometimes get abbreviated versions of Hall of Fame speeches across WWE platforms. In this case, Darsow believed going over the allotted time likely affected how much of his remarks ended up being highlighted afterward.
