Summary

Emily Agard made her first on-screen appearance for WWE during the May 5 episode of NXT on The CW, where she was sent to interview Keanu Carver in a backstage segment.

Agard, who works as a host for Sportsnet Canada, took on-camera duties less than a week after joining WWE's broadcast team for an NXT role.

How The Segment Played Out

Carver initially did not want to speak while the camera was rolling, which led Agard to ask the camera operator to put it down. Once that happened, Carver began opening up and said he had previously told Shawn Michaels to either give him an opportunity or cut him.

The scene then added another wrinkle when Carver revealed he knew the camera was still recording.

Agard later asked him one question on the record, pressing him on how he knew about the art of war symbol Naraku, also known as EVIL, sent to Tony D'Angelo before his WWE television debut. Carver replied that he knows a lot, and the segment also noted that he attended Temple University.

What This Means For Emily Agard And Keanu Carver

Agard's debut shows NXT wasting little time putting her into story-driven backstage material instead of limiting her to a brief introduction. That gives the brand another on-air voice who can move character segments forward, especially in a show built around younger talent finding themselves on television.

For Carver, the segment kept the focus on his attitude and on the mystery around what he knows about the Naraku and Tony D'Angelo situation. NXT did not answer that question here, but it clearly used Agard's debut to push that thread a little further.
