Summary
Gabe Kidd is out indefinitely after suffering a shoulder injury during the AEW World Trios Championship match at AEW Dynasty.
Kidd started the match alongside David Finlay and Clark Connors before he was taken out early and checked by medical staff. He was eventually removed from the bout, which left his team shorthanded against Kyle O'Reilly, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong. The Conglomeration went on to win the titles.
The injury update came during the post-show press conference, where Tony Khan said Kidd's condition is still being evaluated. AEW Dynasty also saw Tony Khan say Toni Storm was originally planned for the card before plans changed in the lead-up to the event.
Quote from Tony Khan
"Gabe is out indefinitely. He is injured. It's a shoulder injury. We'll be evaluating him. I can't say for sure what the injury is. The doctors are evaluating Gabe for injury."
What Gabe Kidd's absence means for NJPW and AEW
Kidd's injury matters on both sides of the partnership because he has been a key figure for the War Dogs while also appearing in a featured title match on a major AEW pay-per-view. Even without a firm timetable yet, an indefinite absence immediately puts his short-term ring schedule in doubt.
For AEW, the injury also changes the context of the Trios title match finish, as The Conglomeration's win came after Kidd had already been forced out. For NJPW, any extended layoff would sideline one of the promotion's most prominent younger names at a time when he has been getting exposure outside the company as well.
