Summary

WWE has added two more items to the May 8 episode of SmackDown, with Jacob Fatu now set to open the show and Damian Priest scheduled to face Talla Tonga.

The Fatu appearance adds another layer to a week that already saw him send a warning before WWE SmackDown and his Roman Reigns title clash. WWE also listed Priest, one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, for singles action against Tonga on Friday night.

Updated SmackDown lineup

Along with Fatu opening the broadcast and Priest facing Tonga, the advertised card for Friday's show also includes Gunther speaking, Tiffany Stratton defending the WWE Women's United States Title against Kiana James, and a six-woman tag team match pitting Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss against Fatal Influence.

WWE is also advertising a Gingerbread Man Funeral for the episode.

What Jacob Fatu and Damian Priest add to the show

Putting Jacob Fatu in the opening segment gives SmackDown an immediate focus on one of the brand's biggest ongoing stories, especially with Backlash approaching and Roman Reigns tied directly to Fatu's latest title direction. Priest's match with Talla Tonga also gives the show another bout involving a champion, which helps fill out a card that now has both storyline advancement and in-ring stakes beyond the women's title match.
