Summary

WWE has added two more matches and another key segment to the May 4 episode of Raw.

Adam Pearce announced that Je’Von Evans will team with Penta against Rusev and Ethan Page on Monday's show. Pearce also confirmed that Finn Balor will face JD McDonagh again, while Asuka and IYO SKY are also set to appear for a sit-down ahead of their WWE Backlash match.

Those additions join a card that already included Sol Ruca signing her Raw contract, Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu signing their Backlash contract, and an open challenge from Oba Femi.

New additions to the May 4 WWE Raw lineup

The current lineup for Raw includes:

  • Sol Ruca signs her Raw contract
  • Roman Reigns and Jacob Fatu sign their Backlash contract
  • Oba Femi open challenge
  • Je’Von Evans and Penta vs. Rusev and Ethan Page
  • Finn Balor vs. JD McDonagh
  • Asuka and IYO SKY to appear

Balor's return to a singles match comes shortly after his Street Fight with Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42, keeping him in a prominent spot on a Raw that is building several Backlash-related stories at once.

What Je’Von Evans, Penta and the Backlash build mean for Raw

Je’Von Evans and Penta being paired together against Rusev and Ethan Page gives Raw another match that can push multiple stories forward in one segment, especially with Backlash close and several top names already scheduled for contract signings or face-to-face appearances.

The planned sit-down with Asuka and IYO SKY also gives WWE one more chance to sharpen that title match before the premium live event, while Balor vs. McDonagh adds another familiar rivalry to a card that is clearly being positioned as a final setup show.
