Summary

Jim Ross believes Sid should have gone into the WWE Hall of Fame as a standard inductee instead of being placed in the Legacy Wing for the class of 2026.

Sid was honored through the Legacy Wing, which meant he was recognized with a video package during the ceremony rather than receiving the fuller presentation that usually comes with a regular induction. That decision had already drawn criticism from Sid's son Gunnar, and Ross said he understood why the family felt shortchanged.

Quote from Jim Ross

Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross said:

"If my daddy was going into the Hall of Fame, I would want them to have the biggest presentation that they could produce. Based on previous years' criteria, by a variety of talents, Sid was overqualified to go into the Hall of Fame. [The Legacy Wing] is a joke. It's just one way to give somebody a payday or some recognition, I understand that, but a guy who headlined WrestleMania a couple of times, a multi-time champion, he deserved and earned...was Sid a pain in the ass? Yeah, sometimes. No doubt about it. He was moody. He had a lot of pride, and some who worked with him closely may say that he had too much pride because he became a pain in the ass to work with, but does that mean he doesn't deserve to be in the regular Hall of Fame? No. He should've been in the regular Hall of Fame. Sid's legacy, whether he's in the Hall of Fame of Legacy Wing, he's never going to be forgotten."

Sid's Hall Of Fame case

Ross framed Sid as someone whose resume already spoke for itself. Sid headlined WrestleMania VIII and WrestleMania 13, and he also held both the WWE Championship and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship twice.

Bad News Brown was also included in this year's Legacy Wing class. Ross' argument was that a performer with Sid's resume and top-line history should have been presented on the main stage of the ceremony instead.

What Sid's induction says about WWE Hall Of Fame standards

Ross' comments put the focus back on how WWE distinguishes between a full Hall of Fame induction and a Legacy Wing honor, especially for a former WrestleMania headliner and world champion like Sid. That debate has stayed active around this year's ceremony, including Kevin Nash raising complaints about Hall of Fame rehearsal conditions.

For fans, the real issue is less about whether Sid's career will be remembered and more about how WWE chooses to formally present that legacy. Ross made it clear he sees Sid as someone whose accomplishments warranted more than a video tribute.
