Summary
Joe Mazzulla says he still got a kick out of his March 23 appearance on WWE Raw with Derrick White, and he joked that the segment could have gone even further if the Boston Celtics were not heading into the NBA playoffs.
While speaking on *Pardon My Take*, Mazzulla said the moment stood out to him because of how much fun he had mixing it up with White on camera. He also recalled nearly sending White over the barricade and into Michael Cole's table before deciding not to push things any further.
Quote from Joe Mazzulla
"To me, everyone has a different love language. My love language is like violence. I've never felt more connected to Derrick. The only thing I regret was like, I almost flipped him over the wall into Michael Cole in the table. I thought we could have just sold it and took it further. If it was the offseason, I think we'd take that further."
Mazzulla also looked back on becoming a wrestling fan as a kid and why taking his own children to the show meant something to him.
"I was. That was a cool moment because my dad took me to the Providence Civic Center for Monday Night Nitro. I was like eight or nine years old. I cried the entire time because I was so scared sitting that close. It was different back then because I felt like it was more violent back then. Lex Luger was like four feet from me and I was like, 'This guy is massive.' It was a cool moment to take my kids there because my dad did that for me."
Mazzulla later went on to say:
"What I was doing to Derrick is the ultimate sign of love. I love that. If we could do that to each other more, I think we'd all be nicer."
Joe Mazzulla's Raw cameo still helps WWE's crossover buzz
Joe Mazzulla openly saying he would have taken the Raw bit further gives WWE another reminder that celebrity appearances work best when the guest is clearly enjoying the moment. In this case, the crossover did not just create a quick social clip, it gave Raw a follow-up story once Mazzulla spoke about it again.
It also helps that Mazzulla connected the appearance to his own wrestling fandom, from seeing Monday Nitro as a child to bringing his kids to Raw. That kind of reaction gives WWE a more natural celebrity endorsement than a one-off cameo with no real attachment to the product.
