Summary

Kevin Knight will defend the TNT Championship in an open challenge on the May 13 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Knight won the vacant title at AEW Dynasty in the Casino Gauntlet and has already put together three successful defenses since starting his reign.

Updated card for May 13 AEW Dynamite

Along with Knight's open challenge, the current lineup for the show includes Darby Allin defending the AEW World Championship against Konosuke Takeshita.

The card also features Adam Copeland, Christian Cage, Orange Cassidy and The Young Bucks against FTR, Tommaso Ciampa and The Dogs, while Will Ospreay is set to face Ace Austin. MJF is also advertised to appear, and both the men's and women's Owen Hart tournament brackets are scheduled to be revealed.

Triangle of Madness, Skye Blue, Julia Hart and Thekla, are also booked to face Alex Windsor, Jamie Hayter and Hikaru Shida.

What Kevin Knight's defense means for the TNT title picture

Putting Kevin Knight in an open challenge on Dynamite gives AEW another chance to establish the TNT Championship as a title that is defended frequently on television. It also keeps Knight visible in the middle of a busy episode, as his rise has already made him a regular point of conversation, including when he addressed MJF after Dynamite.

If Knight gets through another defense, AEW will have even more reason to position him for a bigger featured program around the belt in the weeks ahead.
