Summary

New Japan Pro-Wrestling has added an IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship match to Hizen no Kuni, with DOUKI set to defend the title against Tiger Mask on April 29 at SAGA Arena in Hinode, Japan.

The title bout was announced as part of the Road to Wrestling Dontaku tour lineup. Tiger Mask enters the match with added significance around his remaining schedule, as his retirement match is already set for July 7.

That gives the Hizen no Kuni card another notable junior heavyweight attraction, while Tiger Mask continues to stay active after being added to the Sakura Genesis card in a separate NJPW announcement.

Another match announced for Hizen no Kuni

NJPW also confirmed a six-man tag team match for the show. Oleg Boltin, Aaron Wolf, and Místico will face HOUSE OF TORTURE members Ren Narita, Don Fale, and Dick Togo.

DOUKI, Tiger Mask, and the junior heavyweight picture

DOUKI now heads into Hizen no Kuni with a title defense against one of the division's most recognizable names, and the retirement timetable around Tiger Mask gives the match extra weight even before the opening bell. If Tiger Mask can turn back the clock on April 29, NJPW's junior heavyweight title picture changes immediately heading further into the Wrestling Dontaku run.

For DOUKI, a successful defense would give his reign another meaningful win over a decorated veteran at a time when every championship result helps define the pecking order in the junior division.
