Summary
Tatum Paxley retained the NXT Women’s North American Championship by defeating Blake Monroe in a casket match during week two of NXT Revenge.
The match had already been framed as one of the standout stipulation bouts on the card after NXT Revenge week two set with Tatum Paxley vs. Blake Monroe in a casket match. Once the bell rang, the stipulation played heavily into the finish and the bigger swings both wrestlers took.
Match recap
At one point, both Paxley and Monroe fell into the casket and the lid closed, but the referees ruled that the match would continue.
Later in the bout, Paxley scored one of the biggest moments by hitting a Spanish Fly off the casket. Monroe then brought a bag of diamonds into the ring, only for Paxley to answer with a Cemetery Driver into the diamonds.
Paxley followed that by kicking Monroe into the casket and slamming the lid shut.
The bout also continued a recent trend for Paxley in this stipulation, as the previous casket match presented by WWE came on an October 2024 episode of NXT TV when she defeated Wendy Choo.
Winner
Tatum Paxley won the match by forcing Blake Monroe into the casket and closing the lid, allowing her to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
What this means for Tatum Paxley and the title
Paxley leaving NXT Revenge with the championship keeps her firmly planted in the middle of the division’s title picture, and doing it in a casket match gives the defense more weight than a routine retention would have carried.
For Monroe, the loss matters because the stipulation gave her a high-profile title shot and a decisive finish. Unless a rematch is set quickly, Paxley now has a stronger case to move on to the next challenger with this rivalry seemingly settled for the moment.
