Summary
Speedball Mike Bailey had little praise for MJF after their match on last week's AEW Dynamite, calling the AEW World Champion a despicable human being while reflecting on the segment and what it meant to him.
Bailey had stepped up earlier in the show to back Kenny Omega before later facing MJF. Looking back on it a few days later, he said he was proud of his performance even in defeat and pointed to it as another sign of his growth during his run in AEW.
Bailey has also stayed active outside the promotion, including a match announcement when he was booked to face Amazing Red at HOG Glory At The Globe in Los Angeles.
Quote from Speedball Mike Bailey
"So that happened. I had… Well, I had three days to cool down. Because we wrestled on Wednesday and it’s now Saturday. You know? But as you know on these things, Wednesday leads to Saturday. I hope y’all watched that. I said it on the internet somewhere, but I’m going to say it again here. I want to give MJF his due. I want to say that he’s a great athlete, a great pro wrestler, but I can’t even do that. Like I said about Kyle and a lot of the Don Callis family members, that they are great professional wrestlers, the problem is Don Callis, but with MJF, the problem is MJF. He is a truly despicable human being. He would be a great pro wrestler, if he didn’t do the things he did, but he does, so he isn’t. What he said about Kenny Omega was quite frankly unforgivable, and I hope that Kenny Omega destroys him at Dynasty. I really hope you guys watch that match because despite the result, I’m very proud of what happened. I’m extremely proud of my performance. I am proud that over a year, over one year in AEW, I have continued to improve. I think that I keep pushing forward, and two-time Trios Champion. I have challenged for the World Championship once. I challenge for almost every other championship, and we are inching closer and closer, friends."
Kenny Omega, MJF and where Bailey fits next
Bailey's comments keep the focus on MJF's issue with Kenny Omega heading into Dynasty, because he directly tied his anger to what MJF said about Omega and openly backed Omega to win.
At the same time, Bailey used the moment to underline his own progress in AEW. After noting that he has already held the Trios Title twice and challenged for the world title, he framed the Dynamite match as another step toward breaking through in the singles title picture.
