Summary

Steph De Lander is set to return to GCW at Maniac on April 4 in Los Angeles, where she will face Megan Bayne in a singles match. De Lander said this was a bout that had been planned years ago before an injury halted it, and she framed the matchup as a chance to test herself against a wrestler she rates highly.

The matchup continues De Lander’s active comeback stretch after her recent ACW Women’s Title win.

Quote from Steph De Lander

"I mean, Megan and I was supposed to wrestle a couple of years ago before I got hurt and it never ended up happening. I see a lot of myself in Megan. I see a lot of Megan in me. I think we’re both, you know, we’re the same height, similar build. We’re both like powerhouse kind of wrestlers. She has done so much in her career already. I mean, right now she’s AEW women’s tag champ with one of my best friends, Lena Kross. So they are absolutely killing it. But yeah, what Megan has been able to achieve in the last few years is inspiring, and for me, there’s no point being a big fish in a small pond. I don’t want to wrestle people that I’m already better than. I want to wrestle people that are at the same level or better than me because wrestling someone like Megan, that’s only going to make me better. You know, so is it intimidating? Yeah, of course it is. But also I’m intimidating. I’m SDL, you know? So I think we are a good power match and I think it’s going to be a lot of fun."

What Steph De Lander vs. Megan Bayne could mean in GCW

Steph De Lander vs. Megan Bayne gives GCW a clear power-vs-power attraction at Maniac, and a strong showing from either wrestler could quickly shape who gets featured in the promotion’s next wave of marquee women’s matches. Because De Lander is openly treating this as a measuring-stick bout, the match also carries immediate stakes for how she positions the next stage of her return run.
