Summary

Sting says he still stays involved with AEW even after his in-ring retirement, offering feedback to talent when he is backstage at shows and keeping in regular contact with some of the roster.

The WWE Hall of Famer retired after teaming with Darby Allin to beat The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution in 2025. Since then, he has made occasional on-screen appearances and continued spending time backstage at select AEW events.

Quote from Sting

While speaking on the Hunter, Jessica & Cush podcast, Sting described the kind of guidance he gives when he is around the locker room:

"When I’m there and with the guys, I’ll give feedback on a match or gimmick or a certain move or psychology, or if somebody is trying to develop their character, I’m definitely there to always lend some sort of advice. They are all so gracious and happy to hear from me. It’s good. I’m not there a whole lot, but I am there, I am involved. Some of the guys I’m in contact with, and I’ll talk with them on the phone. Darby, we talk pretty consistently,"

What It Means For Darby Allin And AEW

Darby Allin remaining in close contact with Sting gives AEW one more way to keep that partnership relevant even after Sting's retirement. With Darby now reigning as AEW Champion, that connection also keeps one of the company's most successful mentor-student pairings tied to the top of the card.

Sting's comments also suggest AEW still values his presence as a veteran voice backstage. Even if he is not at every show, his feedback on matches, character work and psychology can still influence younger talent when he is in the building.
