Summary

Mike Bailey says he is still improving after two decades in wrestling, and he believes that matters even more now that he is sharing the ring with Kevin Knight on a regular basis in AEW.

Speaking with Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, Bailey said the biggest accomplishment of his career has been the steady progress he has made without feeling like he has slowed down. He framed that as a positive sign for where his AEW run can still go.

Bailey has also been vocal recently about the wider state of the business, including his view that exclusive deals can hurt wrestler development.

Quote from Mike Bailey

"It's weird because I want to say I'm at the same place that I have been my entire career, which is I'm the best I've ever been. But strangely, that was never not the case, but also my biggest accomplishment in my life and my pro wrestling career is continued progress and never regressing or slowing down. I've just been getting better and better throughout the years and I don't think I'm anywhere near my peak, which is a great thing because I'm going to be in the ring with Kevin Knight every week, I'm going to need to keep pushing and getting better and better otherwise I will be left in the dust because Kevin Knight is undoubtedly a man with absolutely no ceiling on what he can accomplish in professional wrestling."

Bailey later went on to praise the direction of the company and several of its recent additions.

"You talked about us being some of the best signings, I think AEW is doing fantastic right now and it's due to a very long series of great decisions, including highlighting stars like Kevin Knight and I put myself in the same basket. I think all those decisions and great signings, of which there have been so many in the last year. We're talking about Thekla, who is the current AEW Women's World Champion. Megan Bayne, of course. The addition of more stars from Mexico to the roster like Hechicero, Mascara Dorada, and just announcing that Mistico has a double contract and Persephone, who is absolutely crushing it right now. I really think that AEW is getting even better and I am so excited for the run we're on right now."

Mike Bailey and Kevin Knight raise the stakes in AEW

Bailey directly tied his own improvement to working alongside Kevin Knight every week, which gives this quote more weight than a routine confidence statement. If AEW keeps positioning JetSpeed prominently, Bailey is telling fans he sees that environment as something that should sharpen his work rather than simply maintain it.

His wider praise for AEW's recent signings also reinforces how he views the roster around him. That matters because Bailey is not talking about standing still in a crowded division. He is talking about keeping pace in a locker room he believes is getting stronger, which puts extra attention on how far this pairing can climb from here.
