Summary
Sukeban has announced the full lineup for its May 19 event at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, with reigning world champion Ichigo Sayaka set to defend the Sukeban World Championship against Queen of Hearts in the featured bout.
The promotion said the Tuesday night show will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The event is being presented in partnership with Nike, and Sukeban also said the Cherry Bomb Girls will debut new costumes co-created by Nike and the promotion.
The five-match card is scheduled to feature 22 wrestlers from Sukeban's Tokyo roster across the Harajuku Stars, Dangerous Liaisons, Vandals, Cherry Bomb Girls, and Tokyo Toys factions. Mayu Iwatani is also slated to compete on the card, adding another recognizable name to the lineup as Sukeban heads back to a major New York venue.
Full card for the Hammerstein Ballroom show
Along with Ichigo Sayaka vs. Queen of Hearts for the world title, the card includes Stray Cat vs. Crush Yuu vs. Atomic Banshee vs. Babyface in a Gang Warfare match.
Lady Antoinette and Countess Rea Seto will face Saki Bimi and Yukina Uehara in a Dangerous Liaisons vs. Harajuku Stars tag match. The Tag Team Gang Warfare bout will feature Commander Nakajima and Victoria Yuzuki vs. Rina Yamashita and Supersonic vs. BINGO and Midnight Player vs. Delirious Dolly and Seri Yamaoka.
The announced All-Star Tag Team Match has Mayu Iwatani teaming with Nagisa Tachibana against Smack in the Box, Misa Matsui, and Kouki Amarei. The broader Joshi scene has also had other notable spring announcements, including Jungle Kyona's planned May return.
What Ichigo Sayaka and Mayu Iwatani add to this card
Ichigo Sayaka defending the Sukeban World Championship gives the New York date a clear top match, and that matters for a promotion running Hammerstein Ballroom. A title defense against Queen of Hearts gives the card an obvious centerpiece instead of treating the show as just a themed showcase.
Mayu Iwatani's inclusion raises the profile of the undercard as well. With Sukeban also promoting surprise cameos, performances, and the Nike tie-in, the company is presenting this as a major event rather than a routine stop.
