Summary

Tony Khan said Sareee and Persephone are both still expected to take part in the 2026 AEW Owen Hart Cup, with their tournament matches now likely to happen in June.

The update came ahead of ROH Supercard of Honor after the women's bracket had already been set. AEW recently confirmed the first-round matches for the 2026 Women's Owen Hart Tournament, including Persephone vs. Hazuki and Skye Blue vs. Sareee.

Persephone had previously been announced as out indefinitely and was pulled from Supercard of Honor on May 15. Sareee also revealed earlier this month that she was stepping away from wrestling for a month to deal with a neck issue.

What this means for Sareee and Persephone in the Owen

Khan's update keeps both first-round pairings intact, which matters because AEW had already locked in the women's bracket before either situation was fully resolved. If both matches are simply pushed into June, the tournament can continue without a replacement being added on that side of the field.

That also leaves some short-term uncertainty around the pace of the bracket. Willow Nightingale vs. Alex Windsor is already scheduled for Double or Nothing on May 24, while the Sareee and Persephone matches now appear set to follow later.
