Summary
Tony Khan said he would have been open to helping Tokyo Joshi Pro's Vancouver event on Sunday if the promotion had reached out ahead of time.
Speaking after AEW Dynasty, Khan said he did not know the show was happening until it was already underway. He added that several wrestlers on that card could have been useful for AEW that day, including Miyu Yamashita, whom he praised during the media scrum.
Khan's latest comments came during the same post-show session where he also discussed the original plans for Toni Storm at AEW Dynasty.
Quote from Tony Khan
"Tokyo Joshi Pro did not ask for a collab. I probably would've been interested. I like Tokyo Joshi Pro and DDT. I believe they are owned by the same owner as NOAH, which is interesting because NOAH has different things, which is okay, but I have done good with DDT and Tokyo Joshi Pro. They are different companies. It's fair to say I would probably do a lot more with DDT because of Kenny, Takeshita, and (Nakazawa). That's helped me build relationships with the men and women of DDT. Tokyo Joshi Pro, I really like Miyu Yamashita. I've worked with her a lot and have a good relationship with her. She is tremendous. Her being in Vancouver, she was not available to wrestle for me today because she had a show at 11 in the morning. I was in my office this morning when that show started and I chuckled because I was like, 'I would have 100% helped with the show if I knew they were doing it.' I didn't. There was a bunch of women I would have loved to have used."
What Khan's Vancouver comment could mean for AEW and TJPW
Khan's remarks suggest AEW was not part of the planning for the Vancouver appearance, but they also show he still sees value in working with TJPW talent when schedules line up. That matters because he specifically pointed to Miyu Yamashita being unavailable for AEW due to the morning booking, which means the overlap affected who he could use on the same day.
His comments also underline how AEW's stronger existing ties with DDT have come through relationships involving Kenny Omega, Konosuke Takeshita, and Michael Nakazawa. If anything changes from this, it would likely start with more direct coordination rather than a formal broad partnership announcement.
