Summary

Tony Khan said Guadalajara is one of the cities he would like AEW to run in the future, pointing to more untapped opportunities in Mexico as the promotion continues to look at international markets.

While discussing possible destinations, Khan said AEW has already been to Mexico City but still sees other strong options in the country. He specifically named Guadalajara and also brought up France, Italy, and Germany as international markets where he believes AEW has fan support.

The comment continues AEW's broader talk about expanding its footprint outside the United States. Earlier this year, Khan said the company was in discussions about going back to Mexico for Grand Slam, and AEW previously ran Grand Slam Mexico in June 2025.

Quote from Tony Khan

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Khan said:

"There are a lot of great cities in Mexico that we have not been to yet. We've been to Mexico City but I think there are more opportunities. Guadalajara is a great town... There are so many great places that I'd love to go to. I mentioned Guadalajara. I think that's one good opportunity for us that could be an awesome place to visit. There are also a lot of big international cities. There's never been AEW in France, Italy, Germany. These are great markets for pro wrestling and where there's lots of AEW fans."

What Guadalajara could mean for AEW

Khan's latest comments keep Mexico in the conversation as a real expansion target for AEW, especially after the company's earlier discussions about another Grand Slam event there. If Guadalajara does land on the schedule, it would be another sign that AEW is still trying to build on the international momentum it created with past trips outside its usual U.S. base.

It also fits with the wider picture around Khan right now. He has recently been making news for subjects beyond event planning, including his thoughts on wrestling newsletters, but this latest remark points back to live-event growth and where AEW could try to deepen its presence next.
