Summary

United Empire left NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2026 with the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship after Will Ospreay, HENARE and Great-O-Khan dethroned Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and Oleg Boltin in the semi-main event.

The finish came when HENARE and Great-O-Khan held YOSHI-HASHI in place and Ospreay flew in from the ropes with a Hidden Blade. Great-O-Khan followed by scoring the pinfall to secure the title change.

The result also marked Ospreay's first championship reign in New Japan since 2023, when he held the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship, now recognized as the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship.

Winner

United Empire won the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship when Great-O-Khan pinned YOSHI-HASHI after the team's triple-team Hidden Blade finish.

Goto, YOSHI-HASHI and Boltin had held the belts since January 2026.

Great-O-Khan and HENARE immediately target more gold

The title win did not end with the six-man belts. After the match, Great-O-Khan said he and HENARE also want the IWGP Tag Team Championship and called for the Knock Out Brothers, Yuto-Ice and OSKAR, to come to the ring.

Yuto-Ice answered that challenge and said the champions were game, giving United Empire another clear direction coming out of Dontaku. It also keeps Ospreay tied to the broader NJPW conversation after he recently pushed for more AEW wrestlers to be sent to NJPW.

For NJPW's tag scene, the biggest immediate consequence is simple: United Empire now holds one set of championships and has publicly put another team on notice.
