Summary

Cutler James returned to DarkState on Saturday at NXT Stand & Deliver when the full group appeared together in a backstage segment.

The segment followed Myles Borne's successful North American Championship defense against Johnny Gargano. After that match, Dion Lennox jumped Borne, then later rejoined Saquon Shugars, Osiris Griffin, and James backstage.

James had been off NXT television since February, when Tony D'Angelo took him out. Since then, he had continued working NXT house shows before resurfacing with the faction at Stand & Deliver. Elsewhere on the card, the show also featured a Women’s North American Championship match between Tatum Paxley and Blake Monroe.

DarkState tension carries into the April 7 NXT

James' return was only part of the development. Shugars confronted Lennox for blindsiding Borne without telling the rest of the group first, saying DarkState did not come to St. Louis just to watch Lennox chase his own spotlight.

Lennox admitted he was wrong, then said he has a plan for all of DarkState to be featured on the April 7 episode of NXT.

That leaves DarkState in a more complete position heading into Tuesday, but it also puts extra focus on whether Lennox can keep the group aligned after acting on his own. With James back in the fold, NXT now has both the reunion and the internal friction to follow up on immediately.
